About Our Speaker: Katie Fernald is the Wetland and Rangeland Ecologist for the International Crane Foundation, based in Rockport. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Wheaton College (MA) and a Master’s degree in Forestry from Iowa State University. After working with Piping Plovers and Golden-winged Warblers, a passion for research and endangered species conservation brought her to ICF. In Texas, Katie’s work includes research on the wetland habitat Whooping Cranes rely on and working with private landowners to create habitat and improve their properties.
