The very first Texas Mid-Coast Birding Festival will be held May 1st – 4th in Port Lavaca, TX. This festival will offer tours to rarely accessible habitats, including private ranches and Green Lake, a 5,000-acre freshwater lake soon to be a County Park. Included in the tours are areas that had high bird counts in the Christmas Bird Count including the Guadalupe River Delta count that placed 3rd in the nation. By May 1-4, the winter birds will be replaced by nesting birds such as Painted Buntings and other songbirds. The festival primarily focuses on the diverse range of shorebirds, offering both land and boat tours to observe them. Registration is now open. Please register by February 1, 2025 to get the best choices and to be eligible for a drawing to win a special gift.
